Langley for Families Foundation Celebrates 10 Years with Zoopalooza

Inaugural event will be a day of fun at the Virginia Zoo

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Langley for Families Foundation will celebrate 10 years of making a difference for children and families in need by hosting Zoopalooza, a family-friendly event at the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk. The inaugural event will take place Saturday, Sept. 7, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and include yard games, bounce houses, a dunk tank, animal encounters, a magic show and other activities.

“Zoopalooza promises to be a fantastic day of fun, games and learning with your children that also supports local families in need,” said Jerome Fowlkes, Langley’s chief human resources officer and Langley for Families Foundation Board member. “We are proud to have been able to support so many deserving causes and agencies who are working diligently to address our communities’ greatest needs through the Langley for Families Foundation. We appreciate all who have contributed to help advance our mission and we look forward to increasing our impact through the inaugural event.”

The Langley for Families Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity launched to support nonprofit organizations across the communities served by Langley Federal Credit Union. Since its start in 2014, the foundation has donated over $6.2 million to Hampton Roads nonprofits serving households in need of access to education, healthcare and housing & human services.

“The Langley for Families Foundation has been successful thanks to the generosity of Langley’s employees, members and business partners,” Fowlkes said. “Zoopalooza serves as a reminder that anyone is welcome to be a part of the foundation’s mission.”

Zoopalooza tickets are on sale on the Langley for Families Foundation website and support the foundation. Tickets cost $25 for adults and $20 for children 12 and under and include general admission to the zoo’s exhibits and access to the private event area, where attendees will enjoy a variety of entertainment and other activities.
