Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA Expands Executive Team with New CFO

Strategic hire follows recent naming of Matthew Smith as President, signaling a new era of disciplined growth and operational transformation for the coffee leader

Following the recent appointment of Matthew Smith as President, Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA (MZB-USA) – one of the largest vertically integrated coffee companies in North America – continues to fortify its senior leadership team with the naming of Adam Reizer as Chief Financial Officer.

The appointment is a key pillar in the broader leadership vision driven by CEO Scott Meader. By pairing Smith’s commercial expertise with Reizer’s 20-year track record of driving value creation and operational efficiency, MZB-USA is positioning itself to scale its iconic brands, including Chock full o’Nuts®, Hills Bros.®, and Segafredo®. Reizer will report directly to Meader and be based at the company’s headquarters in Suffolk, Virginia.

“Adam’s appointment is a vital step in solidifying a world-class leadership team capable of navigating the complexities of the modern beverage landscape,” said Scott Meader, CEO of Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA. “Pairing Adam’s financial acumen with Matthew Smith’s recent promotion to President creates a powerful leadership synergy. Together, they form a strong executive bench that will drive the disciplined growth and operational excellence necessary to advance our ‘crop to cup’ vision.”

A Specialized Veteran for an Evolving Market

Reizer brings a “hands-on” approach to MZB-USA, with deep expertise in plant-based manufacturing, supply chain optimization, and financial transparency. Throughout his career, he has managed P&Ls for organizations ranging from mid-market firms to nearly $1 billion in revenue, specializing in navigating the complexities of family-owned and privately held businesses.

“Adam’s arrival completes a critical piece of our leadership puzzle,” said Matthew Smith, President of Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA. “As we look to accelerate our growth in the retail and grocery channels, having a CFO who understands the nuances of global food manufacturing and commodity-based business is essential. His ability to translate financial data into practical operating decisions will be a force multiplier for our entire executive team.”

Proven Operational Impact

Reizer’s professional history is marked by high-stakes transformations:

  • CoreFX Ingredients: As CFO, he led the successful stand-up of the independent business following a global carve-out, driving 50% revenue growth and a 20% increase in EBITDA.

  • Indiana Sugars: In his role as CFO for the $900 million manufacturer, he delivered a 30% improvement in EBITDA through aggressive automation, plant optimization, and enhanced financial discipline across eight facilities.

  • Blommer Chocolate: Spent nearly a decade leading operational finance for multiple domestic and international plants at the global cocoa processor, honing his expertise in ERP implementations and capital planning.

Commitment to Collaborative Growth

In his new role, Reizer will focus on driving transparency and mentorship across MZB-USA’s cross-functional teams, including IT, HR, and procurement. His appointment reinforces the company’s commitment to building a “strong bench” capable of navigating the current volatility in the global beverage market while maintaining a competitive edge in North American retail.

“Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA is at a pivotal moment in its history,” said Reizer. “I am honored to join Matthew and the rest of the leadership team in Suffolk to build upon the company’s rich heritage. My focus will be on creating a disciplined financial framework that supports our commercial ambitions and delivers long-term value to our stakeholders.”

Reizer holds an MBA in Accounting and Finance from DePaul University’s Kellstadt Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from DePaul University.
