Newport News Public Schools Earns 12 National School Communication Awards

Newport News Public Schools is proud to announce that its Public Information & Community Involvement and Web teams have been recognized 12 times in the 2026 National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) Publications and Digital Media Excellence Awards.

The division received five Awards of Excellence, two Awards of Merit, and five Honorable Mention awards across multiple categories, including writing, branding, video production, marketing materials, social media, newsletters, and website communications.

The recognition reflects the district’s commitment to transparent communication, meaningful community engagement, and storytelling that highlights the achievements of students, educators, and staff throughout Newport News.

Among the award-winning projects were feature stories highlighting student success, multilingual education programs, and career-focused opportunities, as well as campaigns celebrating graduating seniors, welcoming new teachers, and strengthening community connections through digital engagement.

“While we are honored to receive national recognition, these awards are ultimately a reflection of the extraordinary students, educators, staff members, and community partners who make Newport News Public Schools such a remarkable place,” said Moses Toliver, Supervisor of Marketing and Community Relations. “Our team is passionate about sharing stories that build trust, foster engagement, and showcase the incredible work happening in our schools every day.”

Each year, NSPRA honors the nation’s best work in school communications and recognizes professionals whose efforts positively impact education and public engagement.

Newport News Public Schools remains committed to elevating the voices and accomplishments of its students and staff while strengthening partnerships with families, businesses, civic organizations, and community stakeholders throughout the region.
