Nihal Vasty is a Business Advisor for the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) of Hampton Roads. In his role, Nihal provides assistance, coaching, and strategic direction for pre-venture and new business startups in Hampton Roads with a particular focus on early-stage entrepreneurs and nascent small businesses. Nihal comes to the SBDC being well-versed in the use of public resources specifically in the area of small business funding and growth.
Nihal operates with a “give first” mentality, believing in the importance of contributing to the success of others without expecting anything in return. This principle guides his daily work as he supports the small business community in Hampton Roads.
Before joining the Chamber and the Hampton Roads SBDC, Nihal worked with the City of Norfolk’s Department of Economic Development, where he managed small business grants and loan programs. He also served as an Active Duty Sailor in the U.S. Navy for three years aboard the USS Leyte Gulf (CG-55) and continues his service as a member of the U.S. Navy Reserves.
On a personal note, Nihal is proudly Filipino and Pakistani. He enjoys visiting local farmers’ markets, gardening, and supporting the local arts scene, especially stand-up comedy.
