Chamber Being the Change

Hampton Roads Chamber Partners with VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads and Judeo-Christian Outreach Center

This holiday season, we partnered with our affiliate, VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads to give back to the Judeo-Christian Outreach Center in Virginia Beach through hands-on service.

The Chamber team worked on several different projects producing 170 food baskets, 99 stuffed stockings, and 99 bundled jackets. The Christmas food baskets contained staples for a wonderful holiday dinner including cranberry sauce, stuffing, vegetables, and dessert. Our stocking and jacket team filled each stocking with seasonal candy favorites, cozy socks and crafted heartfelt handwritten cards from both us and the team at JCOC. Each care-filled stocking was paired with a bow tied jacket to spread Christmas joy. We want to make sure those in need are fed, feel loved, and warm!

Aside from holiday projects, we also helped organize hundreds of donated food items for the JCOC food pantry. This important project ensures that donated food is distributed in a first in first out basis to prevent food waste. This project was a major help to JCOC as they received many donations this holiday season needing organized for distribution.

We were thankful to have the opportunity to volunteer with our 2022 Hampton Roads Chamber Nonprofit of the Year, the Judeo-Christian Outreach Center, and to learn about the programs that help so many people in Hampton Roads. Our team not only had a wonderful time helping those in our community, but also bonding with each other. We truly believe that organizations that volunteer together, lead together.

Is JCOC a new to you non-profit? Learn more about them!

The Judeo-Christian Outreach Center partners with over 100 volunteer groups and serves over 86,000 free meals per year to those in need.  In addition to providing meals 365 days a year, JCOC operates a food pantry and Family Food Box Program to help those who are at risk of homelessness. The Judeo-Christian Outreach Center also has many different housing and support programs as well as connects those in need with resources outside of their organization.

Without the help of the community and volunteers, JCOC would not be able to provide all of the services that are currently available to the public.
