Emily Nelson serves as the Coordinator of Programs and Development and as the Events Coordinator of tHRive. In her role as Coordinator of Programs and Development, she is responsible for the planning and execution of several events throughout the year such as the Valor Awards, the Golf Outing, and many more! Emily works alongside the events team and our sponsors with the mission of delivering an unforgettable programs experience for Chamber members and the Hampton Roads business community at large.
As the Events Coordinator for tHRive, Emily collaborates with the tHRive board to create engaging opportunities for young professionals across Hampton Roads such as Member Meetups, Happy Hours, Local Looks, and hands-on community impact initiatives, providing young professionals the ability to grow, connect, and thrive.
Emily values creativity and person connectivity as a guiding principle in her work. Previously, she was a marketing intern for the Farmville Area Chamber of Commerce where she learned the significant impact a Chamber can have on businesses and communities. Emily is a Hampton Roads native and after graduating from Longwood University this past May, she wanted to give back to her community, the place she calls home.
On a personal note, Emily loves thrifting and vintage shopping. She is always on the lookout for small, local businesses or vintage pop-ups that are unique in their own way. She believes that Hampton Roads is the place where you will always find a sense of community and empowerment of creativity.
