Staff celebrates milestone with party at Topgolf in Virginia Beach.

The owners and staff of Mad Science of Hampton Roads gathered recently at Topgolf in Virginia Beach to celebrate 15 years in business. Since opening in January 2008, Mad Science has conducted programs in more than 400 locations throughout Hampton Roads including schools, libraries, childcare centers, Parks and Recreation departments, military youth centers and many others. Their STEM programs have served more than 55,000 students in school-aged programs over the past 15 years. When owners Heath and Jen Marcus began their business in a small rented office in Chesapeake, they never could have envisioned what the next 15 years would hold. Despite the immense challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the business has come back strong and exceeded $400,000 in revenue in 2022. Their staff is comprised of a group of part-time instructors from a variety of backgrounds including current college students, active and retired teachers, and engineers. The Topgolf party featured food and games and prizes. Every staff member went home with a prize to reward them for all of their hard work!
