FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Automatic Coating Limited Expands U.S. Operations
Suffolk, VA – Automatic Coating Limited (ACL) held an expansion groundbreaking ceremony on July 8,
2025. ACL is recognized worldwide as having one of the most technologically advanced powder, liquid
and Tidal Coat fluidized bed coating facilities in North America specializing in the application of highperformance liquids and powder coating. ACL has announced a significant expansion of its U.S.
operations in Suffolk, Virginia. The company will invest millions of dollars and add 21,000 square feet of
new space to its facility located at 1013 Obici Industrial Boulevard, in Suffolk Industrial Park, less than
two years after launching its U.S. headquarters there.
The groundbreaking marks the next phase in Automatic Coating Limited’s long-term growth strategy in
the U.S. market; this expansion will enhance the company’s ability to meet increasing demand from the
U.S. Navy and private-sector clients.
ACL has established a production line supporting critical U.S. Navy contracts as well as commercial
clients including the coating of large structural steel, pipe and piling. Its patented Tidal Coat system
plays a key role in protecting naval ship components from corrosion, helping to extend the life cycle of
essential assets by three times longer.
“As demand grows for advanced, cost-effective corrosion protection, this expansion allows us to better
serve the U.S. Navy and industrial partners nationwide,” said Jocelyn Bamford, CEO of Automatic
Coating Ltd. “Our team is proud to deliver innovative, American-made solutions that enhance the
performance and longevity of mission-critical equipment. Suffolk has provided a strategic home base for
this important work, and we’re thrilled to continue expanding here.”
“Today we celebrate more than just a new building; we celebrate expansion, jobs, and a deep
commitment to innovation that reaches far beyond our city lines. Automatic Coding Limited has already
made a name for itself as a leader in corrosion resistant technologies. And now with this $5 million
investment and additional 21,000 square feet of facilities space, they’re doubling down on U.S.
operations and most importantly, it’s right here in Suffolk,” said City of Suffolk Mayor, Michael Duman.
